Atlanta rapper Future released his ninth studio album on Friday. So far there has only been one music video for I NEVER LIKED YOU, the title of the album, namely the video “worst day“. Now there is another. In the video for the song “Keep It Burnin,” which also features Kanye West, the two perform on a dimly lit stage, which gives off a slight 2000s vibe.

There are 16 songs on the new album. In addition to Kanye West, Gunna, Young Thug, Drake, Tems, EST Gee and Kodak Black are also featured with features. The cover of the album shows Future casually leaning back in a business outfit, with glittering jewelery on her wrists and a sleep mask in the back seat of a luxurious car. It was created during a photo shoot for the American men’s magazine “GQ”, which recently named him “Best Alive Rappers“ has chosen. A label Future certainly agrees with. The author of the article, Elliott Wilson, justifies this predicate as follows:

“His influence cannot be denied. Especially after eight solo albums, 19 solo mixtapes, one album together, four mixtapes together, two EPs and a soundtrack (for 2018’s Superfly). Streamed over 30 billion times worldwide, it has inspired a generation of rappers. Few artists are so prolific. If you look at the hip-hop landscape, no other artist has consistently excelled and been influential for as long as he has. He invented his own sound, which has since become the dominant style in rap. He landed one hit after another. And he did it all on his own terms. I’ll say it again: Future is the best rapper alive.”

Future’s debut album PLUTO, which laid the foundation for an extremely successful career, was released in 2012. Since then, the 1983-born rapper has released eight more albums, six of which reached number 1 on the American album charts.
