Aperol on? You can make a delicious orange spritz with this drink

On King’s Day, you must of course toast with an orange drink. Unfortunately, more people think that, as a result of which the Aperol sells out quickly in the days before King’s Day and on King’s Day itself. Didn’t you make it in time this year? Don’t worry, there is a very good alternative to Aperol that many people are not aware of.

Alternative to Aperol Spritz

With Martini Fiero you can make just as tasty spritz as with Aperol. The color makes these two drinks look alike, but they are really two different things. Martino Fiero is an aperitif based on Italian wine, instead of the neutral alcohol in Aperol, and also has a higher alcohol percentage.

Fiero has a slightly syrupy, bittersweet taste. The bitterness is reminiscent of Aperol and that is why this is a good alternative to the famous spritz. With Martini, they prefer not to compete with Aperol, so they recommend drinking it with tonic (50/50). But you can of course also mix the drink with prosecco and spa red, such as the classic Aperol Spritz.

Do you want to make the drink just like the Aperol Spritz? Then cut a slice of a scrubbed orange per person. Fill a large (wine) glass with ice and pour in three parts prosecco, two parts Martini (or Aperol) and one part sparkling water. Serve with the orange slice.
