Substituted early in Berlin
From now on, VfB Stuttgart will have to do without Pascal Stenzel (26) in the fight to stay in the Bundesliga. The defender suffered a small tear in the abdominal muscles on the iliac crest, as the Swabians announced on Monday. He is expected to be out until the end of the season.
The right-back, who played in 17 games across all competitions this season, had to be replaced after 24 minutes in the 0-2 draw at Hertha BSC. Stenzel oscillated between the bench and the pitch for large parts of the season, before he was a member of the starting line-up in each of the past five games.
VfB is in table 16. with only three games left in acute danger of relegation. The gap to the non-relegation zone is four points.
