Nagelsmann leads FC Bayern to their tenth championship title in a row, football | Bundesliga – BR – Regional

A fresh wind is blowing on Säbener Straße this season. The third youngest coach in the history of FC Bayern takes over. At 33, Julian Nagelsmann ranks behind Sören Lerby and Reinhard Saftig, who both only held the coaching position for a short time.

Nagelsmann’s tenure should be a little longer because he came to win titles. He has already broken records, he was the youngest coach in the Bundesliga at Hoffenheim, then it went on to RB Leipzig – an impressive career. Only one thing is still missing from his CV: a title. So far at least, because now the time has come, he celebrates his first championship title ever with Bayern.

Historical Championship

This championship title is a special milestone not only for Nagelsmann, but also for Bayern veteran Thomas Müller. He is the first player to have won eleven German championships. Müller overtakes his ex-teammate Alaba, who was able to celebrate ten championship titles.

What is now routine for Munich is still a bit unusual for Nagelsmann. With his first championship win, however, he also wrote club history, because in the best European football leagues no team has ever managed to win the championship ten times in a row. Only Juventus came close to Bayern with nine Serie A titles between 2012 and 2020. We look back on the way to the tenth championship trophy in a row for FC Bayern.

The way to the top of the table

Nagelsmann’s debut on the sidelines doesn’t quite go according to plan – at the start of the season, the record champions only managed a 1-1 draw against Gladbach. But it didn’t take long before Nagelsmann got his team back on course and the Upper Bavarian celebrated his first title. FC Bayern wins the Supercup against Dortmund and the first Bundesliga successes follow promptly. After a befitting 7-0 win against newly promoted Bochum, Bayern are back at the top of the table and will not leave the table again.

Only defeated four times

Up until today’s 31st matchday, the record champions have consistently greeted them from the top, because Nagelsmann’s ex-club RB Leipzig and Dortmund are biting their teeth at the Munich team.

Only four teams find the recipe for success against the big Bayern and come out of their duels with three points: Frankfurt, Augsburg, Gladbach and Bochum. Bochum – there was something: still badly shaken on the 5th match day, the promoted team hit back in the second half of the season and won 4:2 against the leaders of the table. With this, VfL ensured the highest win of the season and the highest defeat for Bayern in the league at the same time.

Still on course despite the cup swatter in the league

Borussia Mönchengladbach annoys Bayern twice: not only in the league, but much more painfully, also in the DFB Cup. Munich are clearly defeated by Gladbach in the second round with 0:5.

It is Nagelsmann’s first major defeat as a coach at Bayern, but he himself is not on the sidelines because he is in corona quarantine. Assistant coach Dino Toppmöller stands in for him. But the disappointment has no effect on the Bundesliga. Only three days later, the team convinced again – the record champions beat Union Berlin 5:2.

Vaccination debate and many failures

In the Bundesliga everything is going according to plan for coach Nagelsmann, the staff looks very different. Kimmich is criticized in the media because he does not want to be vaccinated for the time being, then he fails several times because he has to be in quarantine and finally falls ill with Corona himself. Not the only failure that Nagelsmann has to cope with in his first season as Bayern coach. Defender Alphonso Davies has also been out for weeks due to heart problems after a corona infection.

Playmaker Goretzka is also absent from the coach for several weeks due to hip problems and that is just a selection of the numerous absentees this season. No problem for Nagelsmann, he successfully compensates for the absences and gives the young players more chances, so the youngsters, like defender Tanguy Nianzou and offensive power Jamal Musiala, get more appearances.

Master joys are clouded

Nagelsmann is almost certain of one title, the pursuers make a mistake and the gap is increasing. After the Champions League defeat against Villarreal, however, that takes a back seat And the rumor mill is churning.

Is Bayern’s main striker Robert Lewandowski, about to jump off to Spain? Nagelsmann shouldn’t like that at all, because this season the top striker alone has scored 32 of the 89 Munich Bundesliga goals. He is currently indispensable for Bayern’s success. Now Nagelsmann can celebrate his first championship title without any worries. After that, he should probably do a lot to keep the FIFA World Player of the Year 2021 on Säbener Straße.
