Red Bull Salzburg reacted early to the imminent departure of centre-forward Karim Adeyemi (20), who is expected to leave the club in the summer. On Thursday, the Austrian series champion confirmed the transfer of Fernando. The 23-year-old Brazilian arrives from Shakhtar Donetsk in the summer and has a contract until 2027, but will start training with Salzburg immediately due to the political situation in Ukraine.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the transfer fee for Fernando is around 6 million euros, around a sixth of the amount Red Bull will take from the sale of Adeyemi. According to “Sky”, BVB and RBS have agreed on a fee of around 35 million euros.
Special transfer window: Notable players who left Ukraine and Russia
Fernando has played in Ukraine since 2018, only interrupted by a loan to Sporting Lisbon in the 2018/19 season. The right-footed player won two league titles and one cup with Shakhtar, scoring 12 goals and providing six assists in 69 games.
