Royal HFC won 2-1 against VV Noordwijk in the second division tonight. Thanks to two goals from defender André Morgan, the three points remained in Haarlem.
Last Saturday Royal HFC lost against AFC in the final phase still a 0-3 lead and that’s why we had to wait and see how the team of Gertjan Tamerus would take revenge from the spectacular 3-3 against the fellow provincial. Against Noordwijk, the team from Haarlem dominated in the first half and after half an hour of play, this resulted in the deserved opening goal. André Morgan headed in a corner around the penalty spot, so that Koninklijke HFC went into halftime with a 1-0 lead.

Fourteen minutes after tea, Morgan was again accurate. This time the defender scored with a nice volley from the turn. After 65 minutes, however, Koninklijke HFC had to continue with ten men after a red card from Danny Hols. Noordwijk immediately benefited from the surplus situation because Emiel Wendt made the 2-1 on behalf of the visitors.
Exciting final phase
In the last twenty minutes Noordwijk still insisted, but it was not possible to equalize. Former FC Volendam goalkeeper Mitchell Michaelis kept his team going with a number of great saves.
The win keeps Koninklijke HFC in second place in the second division and also narrows the gap to leader Katwijk to 7 points.
