The week of Drenthe: Return of Easter fires and Defense is looking for staff

Children from Ukrainian refugee families living in Emmen went to school for the first time on Monday. A former Esdal College building on Angelsloërdijk has been temporarily set up for this purpose.

With Easter approaching, Defense was on Tuesday looking for the Johannes Post Barracks in Havelte. Not to eggs, but to new staff. Tuesday was an orientation day there. Defense is looking for about 700 new people at the barracks in Havelte alone.

The case known as the trunk murder began this week. According to the Public Prosecution Service, Hans O. from Emmen has to go to prison for 18 years because he killed Ralf Meinema from Klazienaveen. The Public Prosecution Service assumes that he beat Meinema to death with others in March 2017. He would then have put it in the trunk of his classic Mercedes to sink the car in the Stieltjeskanaal.
