Hyundai Issues Recall Due to Fire Risk and Display Failures
Hyundai, the South Korean automotive giant, has announced significant recall actions affecting nearly 19,000 vehicles in Germany. These recalls are primarily due to serious technical issues that could pose safety risks for drivers and passengers. Among the cars affected is Hyundai’s electric compact car, the Inster, along with various other models.
Technical Problems Leading to the Recall
Hyundai is implementing two separate recall initiatives due to these technical problems. The most concerning issue is found in the coolant system of the Inster electric vehicle. This issue can potentially lead to significant malfunctions, which is alarming for the safety of the vehicle.

The issue revolved around instability in the high-voltage battery, which could result in a short circuit and subsequent vehicle fire. This recall impacted cars sold not just in Germany but also in France and other EU countries.

According to a study by the ADAC, the number of car recalls has nearly tripled since 2010. In 2025, there were 532 recall actions, affecting 2.84 million vehicles.
