To mark its anniversary, “Gefragt – Gejagt” is stepping away from the regular evening schedule: On July 25, 16 celebrities will compete in the “Quiz-Marathon” against the quiz elite, raising money for a good cause.
Meet the Celebrity Contestants
When Uwe Ochsenknecht and Heiner Lauterbach share the screen, it’s usually for film roles. On July 25, however, the two actors will sit in the quiz chair instead. Starting at 20:15 on Das Erste, they will be part of a special XXL edition of “Gefragt – Gejagt.” The event will feature 16 celebrities divided into four teams, all of whom are aiming to win money for charity.
Notable Names from Different Entertainment Industries
Joining Ochsenknecht and Lauterbach are fellow actors Armin Rohde and Michael Kessler. The actress lineup includes Mariella Ahrens, Valerie Niehaus, and Rebecca Immanuel. From the music scene, participants include Smudo from the popular group Fantastischen Vier, as well as Alec Völkel and Sascha Vollmer from The BossHoss.
The star-studded cast also features popular figures such as Johannes B. Kerner, Julian Sengelmann, Thomas Hermanns, Ruth Moschner, Gayle Tufts, and Evelyn Burdecki, rounding out an impressive roster.
The Quiz Masters: A Tough Opponent
On the opposing side are the familiar “hunters.” Known as “The Know-It-All,” Sebastian Klussmann, “The Quick-witted,” Annegret Schenkel, “The Quiz Volcano,” Manuel Hobiger, “The Generalist,” Adriane Rickel, “The Quiz Doctor,” Thomas Kinne, and “The Quiz God,” Sebastian Jacoby. They will work to ensure that the celebrities leave with lighter pockets.
There won’t be any special treatment for the invited guests during this anniversary showdown, according to a statement from NDR.
Celebrating 1,000 Episodes
This long quiz evening celebrates 1,000 episodes in the ARD evening program. This milestone was previewed with Episode 999 airing on July 21, followed by the landmark Episode 1,000. A week of double episodes led to this celebratory event, though Friday’s slot was reserved for sports programming.
Host Alexander Bommes on the Show’s Success
Since 2012, host Alexander Bommes has been leading the show, crediting its success to the quiz professionals. He noted, “1,000 episodes of ‘Gefragt – Gejagt’ represent a continuity in television that is unparalleled.” He lauds the hunters for their ability to convey knowledge and rise to the challenges posed by each duel.
He is also pleased with the growing number of contestants eager to take on the quiz professionals, stating that the increasing interest is gratifying for the entire team.
Looking Ahead: A Second XXL Episode
The format had a trial run prior to the anniversary week, with moderators from ARD radio stations competing against the quiz professionals in early June. The “Quiz-Marathon” is not the only prime-time outing planned, as a second XXL edition featuring more celebrity guests is scheduled for the summer.
Fans wishing to participate can do so in front of their TVs or through the ARD Quiz App or ARD Mediathek, where the “Quiz-Marathon” will be available for replay until October 23, 2026.
