The Wilhelmina village in Best will soon be painted on it. In the middle of the neighbourhood, artist Finn Zweemer (36) has been working all week on graffiti art that fills the entire wall of an apartment complex on Wilhelminaplein. To the delight of passers-by and residents: “They should have done this a long time ago.”

“What you see is based on conversations with local residents,” explains Finn. “They wanted it to be a cheerful work, with lots of greenery.”

And green it is. Apple green with a clear blue sky and bending trees whose branches meet in the middle. “The two people you see in the middle represent the solidarity in the neighbourhood,” says the artist. “People help each other forward when necessary. Especially for the elderly who could use some help. That is very central here.”

Finn rattles a paint can again as he explains how it all started. “At my old primary school De Bricks I had made a work of art together with the children. Adults came to see it and asked questions about it.”

When Finn was then asked by the municipality of Best to come up with something that would brighten up the neighborhood and ensure more cohesion in Wilhelminadorp, he suggested the school children interview the local residents.

“For example, I also heard that there used to be a rose garden here on this site of the apartment complex. So I will definitely add some flowers.” He also wants to expand the work with a dog and perhaps a beautiful cloudscape.

“I’m still busy here for a while, but it’s a lot of fun to do,” says Finn with a laugh.
