Gülcan Kamps openly shares her long and emotional journey to family happiness. The presenter reveals she got pregnant for the first time at 33 and discusses the challenges she faced transitioning from wanting children to actually having them.
In late 2021, Gülcan Kamps became a mother for the first time. However, the road leading there was fraught with difficulties. “The entire journey from wanting a child to having one has very little to do with wishes,” she emphasized. She had her first pregnancy at the age of 33.
Kamps, now 43, has frequently shared her struggles on her path to motherhood. In a recent Instagram post, she provided further insights into her experiences.
First Pregnancy at 33 Years
In her post, she described that one of the “Top 10 questions” she faces in interviews is: “When did you first want to start a family and have children?” While she has always responded, she admitted not sharing all the details. Now, she clarified: “The desire came at 33, and the first pregnancy was also at 33. Yes, friends, that’s how it is! And it’s the same for many others.” Few people are willing to discuss this openly.
Kamps continued, “The whole path from wanting a child to having one is mostly emotional and challenging in every sense.” However, she also noted, “The reward is overwhelmingly beautiful, incredible, and fascinating!”
Ten Years Between the Desire for Children and Motherhood
In late May, she had shared emotional yet encouraging messages on her Instagram account. At that time, she wrote, “Ten years ago, the first genuine desire for a child rose within me. I haven’t shared my whole story with you until now. The short version: it was wild!!! Very!” She always believed she would have two children, although the path was rocky or even “rugged.” She encouraged other women longing for children: “Ladies, I want to tell you… Stay persistent, fight, and don’t give up easily, no matter how unreachable or grand your dreams may seem.”

Gülcan Kamps has been in a relationship with Sebastian Kamps since 2004 and married him in 2007 on the Baltic Sea, a ceremony broadcast live on ProSieben. Her first child was born at the end of 2021 when she was 39. In April 2026, the presenter announced the birth of her second child. She did not disclose details such as the gender or names for either child.
