Two chips are dedicated to processing functions for the Vision-Language-Action System (VLA 2.0) used in driver assistance, while the third manages cockpit operations. Alternative Solutions in Lower Variants

Xpeng adopts a different strategy for its lower trim levels. Instead of utilizing fewer proprietary chips, these models employ a wholly different platform—driver assistance is powered by Bosch, while MediaTek chips are used for the cockpit interface. Although these variants include functions like adaptive cruise control, their capabilities won’t extend to Level 2+ automation due to lower computing power.

Next Generation Pilot

The advanced Turing AI chips serve as the foundation for Xpeng’s new Next Generation Pilot (NGP) system. This technology enables partial automation classified as Level 2+, allowing features such as automated lane changes, adaptive cruising, parking assistance, and a smartphone-controlled parking system. With legislative support expected by January 1, 2027, Xpeng plans to expand the vehicle’s functionality through over-the-air updates.

Three Displays and Comprehensive Networking

The cockpit of the L03 borrows design elements from larger Xpeng models. An 8.9-inch digital instrument cluster sits behind the wheel, accompanied by a central 15.6-inch touchscreen with 2.5K resolution. A standout feature is the 26.8-inch head-up display, which projects essential driving information directly into the driver’s line of sight.

Google Maps Integration

The infotainment system supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, complemented by inductive smartphone charging and multiple USB ports. While navigation is powered by Google Maps, the system doesn’t utilize a native Android setup but runs on Xpeng’s own XOS 6. Google Maps also manages charging station planning, factoring in user preferences.

Charging Capabilities and Performance

Operating on a 400-volt architecture, the L03 achieves a maximum DC charging capacity of 236 kW, enabling its battery to charge from 20% to 80% in just 18 minutes. With four battery electric variants at launch, the entry-level model combines a 180 kW (245 PS) rear-wheel drive with a 58.3 kWh LFP battery, providing a range of up to 445 km according to WLTP standards.

Aerodynamic Design and Spacious Interior

The L03 boasts a sleek SUV-coupé design, achieving a low drag coefficient of 0.228. Despite its sporty shape, it promises ample interior space with a wheelbase of 2.85 meters and a trunk capacity of 539 liters, complemented by additional storage options including a sizable frunk. The interior also features multiple compartments and a wireless charging platform.

Comfort and Safety Features

Standard amenities include electrically adjustable heated and ventilated front seats, a heat pump, panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, PM2.5 air filtration, ambient lighting, and a nine-speaker audio system. The Ultra version further enhances the experience with an advanced “Xopera” sound system, active noise cancellation, massage functions, and expanded NGP functionalities.

In terms of safety, Xpeng integrates over 13 assistance systems under the banner of Xpilot, incorporating features like emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, and adaptive cruise control. With seven airbags and an advanced battery protection system, the vehicle aspires to achieve a five-star safety rating once tested.

With a starting price of €35,600, the Xpeng L03 aims to capture interest in the electric compact SUV segment. Options include a power-operated tow hook, multiple striking metallic colors, and the Black Edition with unique finishings.
