Energie Cottbus in Training Camp: FCE Lifts Weights in the Gym

The second training session of the day has been completed, and the gym is packed with over 30 players—there’s no room left for journalists.

Training Camp in Austria: Aiming for Promotion

Located in Oberndorf, Tyrol, Energie Cottbus has once again set up its training camp in Austria. From July 12 to July 19, the team from Lausitz is gearing up to return to the second Bundesliga.

The camp kicked off on Saturday afternoon, immediately after a test match against Halle FC, which ended with a score of 2-0 but was marred by a game interruption.

Aside from team-building exercises, the FCE will also engage in tactical adjustments and a match against the Czech first division team Mlada Boleslav on July 15.

Stay tuned for live updates from TAG24 as we cover the training camp.

July 13, 16:25: Fitness Session in the Gym

After a refreshing lunch break amid sweat-inducing 30-degree temperatures, the FCE players are back in action at 5 p.m., this time in the gym. The team will return to the pitch on Tuesday at 11 a.m.

Surprise Absence: Fousseny Doumbia Missing from Training Camp

For those paying close attention to the blog, it has become apparent that only 26 out of the initially announced 27-player squad made it to the pitch today. The reason? Fousseny Doumbia has not traveled with the team; he suffered an injury over a week ago, which initially went unnoticed by the public.

July 13, 13:00: A Minor Scare—Lucas Copado Leaves Training Injured

After about an hour into training, a minor scare occurs when striker Lucas Copado injures his knee in a duel, immediately limping to the sidelines and collapsing to the ground. Physiotherapists quickly treated him with an elastic bandage. Luckily, the injury turned out to be a precaution after all.

Following Copado’s exit, the session continued with finishing drills and defensive tactics. Ted Tattermusch managed to score several times after a slow start.

July 13, 11:40: First Field Training Under a Spectacular Mountain Backdrop

The first training session in Austria takes place in sunny weather with temperatures soaring to 27 degrees. Today is projected to be the hottest day of the week, hitting up to 30 degrees. Jonas Hofmann certainly made an impression as he climbed the steep trail to the training pitch largely without e-bike assistance. Following a brief talk, the team engaged in intensive warm-ups, passing drills, and explosive power exercises.

On the field, 23 players are present, including the returning Axel Borgmann and Tolcay Cigerci. They are integrated into the drills but advised to avoid challenges. Goalkeepers are training separately.

Fans are keenly awaiting updates as the team looks not only to get fit but also to build a formidable squad for their return to the second Bundesliga.
