Estavana Polman has only just begun her trial period on the talk show *Vandaag Inside*, yet already faces criticism for her initial appearance. Viktor Vlam, a well-known TV critic, labels her performance as “very unwise.” How did Estavana find herself in a situation where she might risk her new role before it even begins?

The announcement has been made: Estavana Polman will officially join *Vandaag Inside* as a regular guest after the summer break. Her role, however, is limited to once a month for the next four months until the end of December. During her first appearance on the show, she primarily discussed her biography.

A Double-Edged Sword

Polman attracted a fair amount of criticism for not contributing much to the conversation. As critic Viktor Vlam points out, “Estavana is a bit of a hype right now. There’s a lot of buzz around her, which is both a curse and a blessing.” The hype surrounding her can boost her visibility but also sets high expectations. Vlam raises an essential question: “Does she possess the skills to live up to this hype?”

In his podcast, Vlam emphasizes that this hype could lead to significant disappointment if she cannot deliver. “As Johan Derksen puts it: ‘Can she actually do something?’ This is the risk involved in being a trending figure.” The constant questioning of her capabilities could overshadow her potential achievements.

Limited Appearances

Vlam believes that *Vandaag Inside* made a mistake in promoting Polman’s role so heavily. “They made quite a grand announcement about her becoming a fixed table guest. But she will only be appearing once a month, which translates to just eight times a year. In December, her presence will be evaluated, meaning she might only participate in four appearances.”

In comparison, co-hosts Job Knoester and Valentijn Driessen are present on the show four times every month, which makes Polman’s limited role seem less impactful.

Preparation is Key

For her initial “soft launch,” Vlam expresses that Polman could have improved her performance by preparing more thoroughly for the show. “I think she should have done better to engage with the topics discussed and contribute to the conversation. Being in the spotlight means you need to be ready.”

By familiarizing herself with various subjects beyond just her own career, Polman could have demonstrated her depth and versatility, which might alleviate doubts regarding her talent.

A Missed Opportunity

This first appearance was a chance for Polman to showcase her abilities. “If she had engaged more with other topics, it would have shown that she is also intellectually strong. This could have put many speculations regarding her capabilities to rest,” Vlam concludes.

Critically, he remarks, “It’s truly unwise that she opted only to discuss herself. I would have approached it quite differently.” Estavana Polman’s upcoming appearances are critical; she will need to step up her game to ensure she doesn’t become a fleeting trend amid the unforgiving world of television.
