British Royals

Just before Prince Harry’s anticipated visit to the UK, King Charles III has gathered close family members for a rare dinner in Scotland. Almost everyone attended.

On June 30, as reported by the “Daily Mail” on July 1, King Charles (77) invited key royal family members for a special dinner at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Scotland. Attendees included Queen Camilla, Prince William, Princess Anne, and Prince Edward.

The occasion was linked to the annual Royal Week, during which several prominent royals are present in Scotland. The event was described as a “dine and sleep” gathering, preceded by a service for the Order of the Thistle on July 1.

First Family Visit in Four Years

The dinner coincides with the return of Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, to the UK. According to “People,” the couple plans to bring their children to Britain for the first time in four years. Prince Archie (7) and Princess Lilibet (5) last visited in 2022 for Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee.

The trip is scheduled for July, where Harry intends to engage in various charitable activities, including the one-year countdown to the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham. Although the children will accompany them, they are reportedly not expected to participate in public appearances.

Dispute Over Security Protections

The Sussexes lost their publicly funded security in the UK after stepping back from their royal duties in 2020. Harry has since sought to restore this privilege. Sources familiar with the situation revealed that a review by the Risk Management Board, promised for March, did not take place.

Harry is exploring every available option to ensure a secure visit for his family, urging the need for safety to allow his children to experience life in the UK. After a failed appeal in May 2025, Harry had stated to the BBC that he can’t imagine returning to his homeland without proper protection for his wife and children.

Brief Visit Considered

Currently, the Sussexes are reportedly vacationing in Europe, possibly to acclimate their children to the time difference with California. Over the weekend, “The Telegraph” reported that Harry may consider bringing Meghan, Archie, and Lilibet to the UK for just one day to meet King Charles, without the controversial protection arrangement.

A source cited that the Duke of Sussex simply wishes his children to see their grandfather, who is still undergoing treatment for cancer. (mia/spot)
