Faster than a sports car and packed with sophisticated technology: The Aistaland GT7 accelerates to 100 km/h in under 3 seconds. But that’s not all!

  • Aistaland launches a new electric wagon in China for approximately 27,000 Euros.
  • The 5.05-meter-long GT7 combines the sporty aesthetics of a coupe with the practicality of a wagon.
  • However, if the electric wagon were to debut here, it would likely be significantly more expensive than in China.

Aistaland has introduced an electric car that promises to compete in a completely different league, all while being priced comparably to a well-equipped compact car. The new GT7 starts in China at 209,900 Yuan, translating to nearly €27,000. This electric wagon has been developed in collaboration with GAC and Huawei, with Huawei providing the infotainment, assistance systems, and much of the software.

The GT7, classified as a shooting brake, merges the sleek design of a coupe with the ample space of a wagon. With a length of 5.05 meters, the vehicle surpasses familiar electric wagons like the Volkswagen ID.7 Tourer and the BMW i5 Touring, offering substantial room for passengers and luggage. Its aerodynamically optimized shape reduces drag, thereby contributing to lower energy consumption and increased range.

Large Displays and Unusual Headlights

Aistaland emphasizes technology over buttons in the GT7’s interior. Functions are controlled through Huawei’s HarmonySpace system, complemented by an impressive 88-inch head-up display that projects driving information onto the windshield. The sound system features 21 speakers, providing an immersive audio experience. Additionally, the headlights can project images or information—up to 120 inches—onto walls, offering possibilities for navigation details or welcome animations when the car is stationary.

In terms of performance and range, the GT7 aims to astonish. The base model reportedly delivers 340 hp and boasts a range of up to 900 km, according to Chinese measurements. The top variant features three electric motors, producing a staggering 768 hp that propels the car from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.98 seconds, rivaling many supercars. For comparison, a VW ID.7 Tourer takes over five seconds to achieve the same feat, appearing almost leisurely alongside the GT7.

Charging Back on the Road in Just 12 Minutes

The GT7’s charging capabilities are equally impressive. Utilizing 800-volt technology, the battery can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in merely 11 minutes and 48 seconds. This rapid charging is remarkable, though BYD claims its latest technology offers charging times of around five minutes. Furthermore, the GT7 is equipped with an intricately tuned chassis and digital suspension controls from Huawei, enhancing stability during cornering and offering specialized modes for hilly terrains or controlled drifts.

At first glance, the GT7 bears a striking resemblance to the Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo, featuring a sloping roofline, elongated front, and sporty wagon rear that closely resemble the German luxury model. This design nod is common among Chinese manufacturers, who often take cues from European cars like Porsche, BMW, Mercedes, or Audi to build trust and credibility in their offerings. Aistaland appears to have adopted this successful recipe with the GT7.

It remains uncertain whether the GT7 will make its way to Europe or Germany. If Aistaland chooses to expand to these markets, the starting price is likely to rise significantly due to import costs, taxes, and adjustments to meet European regulations. While brands like BYD and Leapmotor are already active in Europe, Aistaland is still relatively unknown. Meanwhile, those unwilling to wait can find robust electric vehicles at attractive prices now.
