Katja last week shared a photo of the campaign she shot for the brand in a village in Zanzibar, Africa. The photo shows Katja in a beautiful dress with sneakers, together with the designer of the brand, Floris.
Katja Schuurman was criticized on Twitter
However, it turned out that only a few people had an eye for Katja’s shoes, because all the attention went to the children who could also be seen in the photo. There were two African children in the picture, without shoes. Because it seemed that the children are not particularly well off, many people find the photo inappropriate. The bomb exploded on Twitter, but Katja kept her lips tight – until now.
Reaction Katja Schuurman
Opposite RTL Boulevard both the shoe brand and Katja have responded to the riot for the first time. For example, a spokesperson for Floris van Bommel says that the parents of the children have been asked for permission and that the children have received compensation. Katja herself thinks it is a shame that people immediately think that they are poor when they see black children. “That also says something about those who see it.”
