Frankfurt – Eintracht Frankfurt has officially extended the contract of club legend Timothy Chandler for another year, until 2027. This confirms reports from BILD earlier in May that the veteran will continue playing for the Hesse club while also preparing for life after his playing career.
Chandler’s New Role at Eintracht
In addition to his responsibilities as a player, Chandler will gain extensive insights into various aspects of the club during the upcoming season. A seamless transition to his post-career role is already planned.
Chandler remarked, “During the past season, I spoke with Markus Krösche about looking into different areas of the organization, taking on responsibility, and continuing my education in those areas. As a player, this will likely be my last season – but in football, you never know.”
Chandler’s Emotional Connection to Eintracht
For Chandler, the contract extension is a matter of the heart. The Frankfurt native joined the club at the age of ten and has since played 199 competitive matches for Eintracht, winning the DFB-Pokal and the Europa League with his hometown team.
The fan favorite stated, “Everyone knows how much Eintracht Frankfurt means to me. This club is my sporting home, my family. I am fit, healthy, and still feel in excellent physical condition. I am convinced that I can continue to help the team with my experience on and off the pitch, and above all, contribute to bringing back the Eintracht spirit.” Following a disappointing previous season, Chandler is filled with determination for a fresh start under returning coach Adi Hütter.
Reasons Behind Chandler’s Value to Eintracht
Sporting director Timmo Hardung emphasized Chandler’s importance, saying, “Timmy is a crucial player and a valuable team member for us in many respects. He serves as a role model, especially for our younger players. With his mindset and professionalism, he leads both on and off the pitch. In the locker room, he brings a wealth of experience, is a positive character, and is fully committed to Eintracht Frankfurt. Therefore, we are very happy to continue our journey together with him.”
