A New Era at Radio 10
Gordon’s departure comes as Talpa prepares to welcome the well-known duo from NPO Radio 2, Roodbeen and Kijk in de Vegte. Their last broadcast on the public broadcaster will be at the end of July, and they are set to debut their new morning show on Radio 10 on September 1. Jan-Willem Roodbeen will also take on the role of station manager, voicing his enthusiasm: “This feels like the right moment for a next step.”
A Perfect Match?
Both Roodbeen and Kijk in de Vegte see their transition as a fortuitous opportunity. Jeroen, who continues to represent shows like RTL Boulevard, expressed his excitement: “Radio 10 and our show feel like a perfect match.” Talpa’s radio executive, Dave Minneboo, praised Gordon and his team’s efforts over the past year, while also expressing confidence in the new show.
Gordon Reflects
In a recent statement on Instagram, Gordon revealed the challenges he faced during his show. “When I began this adventure, I thought I understood what it meant to wake up early every day. The reality was different,” he admitted. His experience led him to realize the substantial impact hosting a daily morning show had on his life, which affected his health and overall balance.
Reality Check: Low Ratings
For the first time, Gordon openly acknowledged that his audience ratings were less than favorable. “We looked at the results, and they were disappointing,” he noted. He attributed his decision to step down primarily to his personal circumstances, emphasizing the need to prioritize his health and happiness.
Gordon ended on a reflective note, expressing pride in what he accomplished despite the challenges. “I’m incredibly grateful for the lessons learned and the laughter shared. It’s been a wild ride!” Gordon’s departure marks the end of an era at Radio 10, and all eyes are now on the NPO duo as they step into the spotlight.
