Eight Months After His Death: Jack White’s Widow Praises Her New Love
Transitioning Through Grief
Eight months after the tragic passing of music producer Jack White, his widow Rafaella Nussbaum is embracing a new chapter in her life. Known for maintaining the façade of a perfect family, the harsh realities of their relationship came to light after Jack’s death. In the wake of his passing, Rafaella found solace in the arms of her new partner, Jan Kluwe.
The Illusion of a Perfect Family
Rafaella and Jack White, who shared two children together, managed to project an image of a flawless family even weeks before his death. Just two months prior to Jack taking his own life at their Berlin home, they appeared jovial during their son’s school enrollment in August 2025. However, shadows lurked behind the public smiles; Rafaella revealed that her marriage had effectively ended in late 2024.
In interviews, she candidly discussed how they maintained this illusion, saying, “We transported a lie to keep his public image intact as a healthy, successful, and virile superstar.” Jack battled severe depression long before his demise, suffering from multiple suicide attempts that culminated in the heartbreaking event on October 16, 2025.
Finding Love Again
As she navigated her grief, Rafaella found unexpected companionship and support in Jan Kluwe, a Berlin entrepreneur. Their romance blossomed after a chance reunion during a summer holiday in southern France. Just recently, she introduced Jan publicly on Instagram, marking a significant step in her healing process.
A New Kind of Relationship
Reflecting on her relationship with Jan, Rafaella expressed how initially, all signs pointed against them becoming a couple. “We were both closed off to new relationships,” she shared. However, as they spent time together, they both realized how beautiful their connection was. “He is incredibly intelligent, funny, and possesses admirable values. I love him inside and out.”
Jan, who also has a daughter from a previous relationship, added that they enjoy their newfound love and the dynamics of their blended family. “We love each other, cherish our time together, and appreciate this new patchwork family,” he stated.
The Journey Ahead
Jack White, whose real name was Horst Nussbaum, was married to Rafaella for 15 years, during which they welcomed two children: Maximilian, born in summer 2019, and Angelina, born in spring 2023. Rafaella’s journey from grief to finding love again showcases the resilience of the human spirit, demonstrating that even in the darkest times, the capacity for joy and connection persists.
While Rafaella navigates the complexities of motherhood and relationships, it is clear that she is committed to creating a vibrant, loving environment for her children and herself, even as she honors Jack’s memory in her own way.
In sharing her story, Rafaella not only reflects on her personal journey but also sheds light on the importance of mental health awareness and being open about struggles, potentially helping others facing similar battles.
