The stabbing happened around 12:30 am at a reception location of the Central Agency for the Reception of Asylum Seekers (COA) on the Gerrit Bolkade. Several ambulances and police units responded to the report.
The victims were taken to hospital with unknown injuries. It is not known how they are doing now.
Suspect arrested
One of the injured has been arrested as a suspect. It concerns a 22-year-old man from Zaandam. He is suspected of serious assault. The police could not say whether both victims live at the shelter.
It is not clear what exactly happened. An argument or conflict may have preceded the stabbing. The police are investigating.
