Since Xabi Alonso took over Chelsea FC, there has been speculation in England about a possible reunion with national player Florian Wirtz. Such a massive transfer within the Premier League is apparently still not completely off the table.

As the “Football Insider” portal writes, Chelsea is still keeping an eye on the Liverpool FC offensive player. The Reds should therefore be generally willing to negotiate if the offer is right.

Nevertheless, the hurdles for Wirtz to move to Stamford Bridge seem enormous. According to the report, such a mega transfer would only be possible for Chelsea if Enzo Fernández were to be sold first.

The Argentine is currently linked with Real Madrid. In order for the math game to work out, around 140 million euros would have to flow to London for the playmaker, it is said.

The Blues could generate further income through the departures of Liam Delap, Andrey Santos, Marc Guiu and Jamie Gittens. Chelsea had previously sold Marc Cucurella to Real Madrid for around 55 million euros in order to ease the financial situation.

What are Liverpool FC’s plans with Florian Wirtz?

In the spring, the six-time English champions reported a loss of over 300 million euros for the past financial year, setting a new negative record for the Premier League.

At least in terms of sport, things should soon be looking up for the Londoners under Xabi Alonso, who was officially introduced as the new head coach in mid-May.

After the announcement on the island, the Wirtz rumors quickly gained momentum. The DFB star shaped an era under Alonso at Bayer Leverkusen and the two are said to have a close relationship.

However, transfer insider Fabrizio Romano reported at the beginning of June that the trail was cold. According to Romano, the Reds are planning to sign the German international. Wirtz has a long-term contract at Anfield until 2030.
