A twin-engine Cessna 421 plane crashed near La Baule-Escoublac airport, on the north-west coast of France, on the evening of Friday 19 June. The crash claimed the lives of the two occupants, both expert pilots with regular licences. At the controls was Claude Guillemot, co-founder of the video game major Ubisoft, who over the years has introduced highly successful franchises such as Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, Just Dance, Watch Dogs and The Crew onto the market. Next to him sat a professional instructor, who also died following the impact. According to initial reconstructions, the accident occurred shortly before landing, for reasons yet to be clarified. The wreckage of the Cessna 421 was found in a field adjacent to the airport’s landing strip.
