“We previously indicated that we wanted to add a specialist in the field of set pieces,” says Niels van Duinen about the appointment of Philipp Aigner.
Furthermore, the new technical director says on the AZ site that it is almost an essential addition in modern football. “Up to 40 percent of goals in the league come from set pieces. We believe this is an area of the game that you can influence by making it trainable.”
“A lot of games are decided on details,” Aigner said. The specialist trainer comes over from LASK Linz. “Set pieces are a big part of the game and offer opportunities to make a difference. My focus is entirely on further developing that part within the team.”
