Achraf Hakimi will be on the pitch for Morocco at the World Cup. However, there are serious allegations against the PSG star off the pitch.

Achraf Hakimi must go to criminal court. The Versailles Court of Appeal decided this on Friday. The Paris Saint-Germain defender is accused of rape. There is no specific trial date yet.

A then 24-year-old told the police in February 2023 that Hakimi had raped her. She initially did not file a complaint. Hakimi’s lawyer accuses the woman of obstructing the investigation and refusing medical examinations. At a hearing in May, Hakimi requested that the proceedings be dismissed.

The former player of Borussia Dortmund denies the allegations and describes himself as a victim of defamation.

Achraf Hakimi defends himself against the allegations

The Champions League winner from Paris Saint-Germain wrote on For years I chose to remain silent. I thought the right thing to do was to remain dignified, be patient and trust the justice system to make the right decisions.”

Hakimi also blames the woman: “Today a story is being told that is not mine, at the expense of my family, my life and, above all, the truth. Sometimes I have the feeling that I have become an easy target. I have been waiting for this trial since day one. And now I am eagerly awaiting it. Finally I will be able to speak.”
