The representative of La Libertad Avanza Lilia Lemoine faces two legal complaints that put the ruling party in trouble. They accuse her of having omitted information in her assets affidavit and of having used a congressional contract to pay her private lawyer. Added to this is a fact that aggravates the situation: he has not yet submitted the sworn statement corresponding to 2024.

The complaints were filed by Facundo Pérez Ernst, Rodrigo Fronzo, Stefanía Conesa and Andrea Albarracín. The focus is on the statement that Lemoine presented in October 2024, corresponding to the previous period. According to the presenters, the deputy never delivered the initial declaration, a mandatory document that every official must present within the first 30 business days to assume. Lemoine assumed his bench on December 10, 2023.

The only declaration presented was that of 2023. There, the legislator assured that she had no assets, debts or personal expenses, and that her assets were zero pesos. However, public records show another reality. According to the Debtors Center of the Central Bankto the December 31, 2023 The deputy registered a debt of 502 thousand pesos with four financial entities: Cencosud Card —in situation 4, which reflects a severe delay in payments—, the City Bank and credits associated with Free market. “The problem is not that he had debts, but that he did not declare them,” he said. Perez Ernst. As she explained, Lemoine settled those debts once she began collecting her salary as a deputy, but that did not exempt her from reporting her financial situation at the time of taking office.

The doubts also reach real estate. The complainants maintain that Lemoine should have declared the house in which he currently resides, which he would have inherited from his mother. The deputy publicly argued that she was not incorporated because the succession has not yet been concluded. However, Perez Ernst She maintains that, as she is an only child, she already has inheritance rights and should have included her in the declaration. In addition, a confidential witness stated that there would be other properties linked to the legislator in Belgrano and Ituzaingó. This information has not yet been corroborated by Justice.

The second judicial front was born from a statement by Lemoine herself. In an interview he acknowledged that his criminal lawyer’s fees were covered through an advisory contract within the Chamber of Deputies. The complaint was left in the hands of the judge Ariel Lijowho already summoned the complainants to ratify the presentation. The investigation seeks to determine if there were crimes linked to the use of public funds for private purposes. According to the complainants, the lawyer in question would have left the defense of the deputy and announced his departure from Congress, although this situation has not yet been officially confirmed.

Lemoine’s lawyer, Hernan Seivaneminimized the accusations: “When the prosecution says there is something strange, I will answer. At the moment there is nothing.” He also downplayed the inconsistencies detected in the affidavit: “I am not an accountant, I will promptly speak with an accountant in case there is any material error in it.” The case leaves the ruling party facing an uncomfortable contradiction: one of its most combative leaders will now have to answer questions about her own transparency.
