Biathlon legend Johannes Thingnes Bø is heading to Finland this summer, where the 23-time world champion will take part in special training.

As the Finnish Biathlon Federation announced, Bø will be attending the biathlon festival in Vuokatti from July 23rd to 26th.

The 33-year-old was “involved in planning the summer camp program” and will “train together with the young biathletes,” it is said.

“I’m coming to Finland this summer for the biathlon festival and hope to see you there too. Let’s have fun together, train and maybe even compete a bit. See you in Vuokatti,” said Bø himself.

The training is aimed “specifically at amateurs and interested parties under the age of 17,” said the Finnish Biathlon Association. Registration is possible until July 12th and costs between 205 and 245 euros.

Biathlon legend ventures into the catering industry

Bø officially ended his biathlon career in spring 2025. The Norwegian is a record world champion with 23 gold medals. Five Olympic and five overall World Cup victories also adorn his dazzling CV.

Bø remains extremely busy after his active biathlon career. The ex-ski hunter is venturing into gastronomy, among other things, as he revealed to the newspaper “Dagbladet” in May.

A bar is scheduled to open in the city center of Kongsvinger, which is around 80 kilometers northeast of Oslo.

“My career as a biathlete was just a stepping stone. It was just too easy. This is going to be really hard,” said Bø, who is tackling the project together with his wife Hedda and the restaurateur Mari Søbye Østlid.

Before the bar opens, the biathlon legend is going to Finland first. After all, the Scandinavian has enough to pass on to the next generation with tips at the shooting range and on the cross-country ski trails.
