Pastor Mauricio Meneses is out of work indefinitely due to illness. Meneses is active as a pastor in many churches in Deventer and Salland on behalf of the Holy Cross Parish, the Holy Lebuinus Parish and St. Marcellinus.

The news has been announced by the parishes. Due to illness, Meneses is unable to perform his pastoral and administrative duties for an indefinite period.
It is unknown what exactly the pastor has.
Because it is not known when the pastor will be able to return, a replacement has been appointed. The archbishop has appointed an acting pastor: Patrick Kuipers.
He is vicar of the Vicariate of Deventer and works as a pastor in Twente and lives in Enschede.
Temporary successor
According to vice-chairman of the Holy Cross Parish, Ton Strien, the pastoral team is trying to make up for Meneses’ absence as best as possible. “We understand that all kinds of priests and deacons from elsewhere are willing to support us.”
Meneses has not been active as a pastor in this region for long. At the end of last year he replaced Ronald Cornelissen, who was appointed bishop of Groningen-Leeuwarden. On November 8, 2025, Meneses was officially appointed as pastor in Deventer and Salland during the installation celebration.
