Oliver Tree is dead. The 32-year-old musician died on June 14th in a helicopter collision in Rio de Janeiro. KSI, Diplo and Steve-O react to the tragic loss.

There are musicians who add content to the internet to get more attention – and then there is Oliver Tree. An appearance that was as obscure as it was real that fans loved it. But since Sunday, June 14, the same fans have had to mourn the 32-year-old musician. Oliver Tree was involved in a helicopter crash that resulted in death for those on board.

Cloud of smoke over Rio de Janeiro

The drama took place in Rio de Janeiro, where Oliver Tree was staying due to his recently started world tour. Two helicopters collided and crashed. The cause of the collision is still under investigation. One thing is clear: the musician died along with five other inmates. He played his show in São Paulo on June 6th – Lisbon would have been next.

Oliver Tree was known worldwide not only for his unmistakable appearance with a pot hairstyle and wide flared trousers. He broke all records with his track “Miss You” after the Berlin South star released a remix that was eventually officially reissued by Robin Schulz. His other songs like “Alien Boy”, “Life Goes On” and “Hurt” were in the alt-pop and rock genre. Through his presence on the Internet, he met many other Internet personalities who are now speaking out about the tragic accident.

Reactions from the music world

The YouTuber KSI, who released the song “Voices” together with the musician, reacted to the sudden death with the following words:

“I can’t believe I actually have to write this. You’re 32, man. You should still be here. You had so much life ahead of you. So much music you could have made. So much content you could have created. You are a legend and will always be a legend. It still doesn’t feel real. I’m honestly devastated. I love you, bro.”

Anecdotes from musician friends are also shared with the general public. Producer and DJ Diplo called Oliver Tree his dream collaboration partner via Instagram and shared a story that might make some fans smile:

“I once left a session where I asked him to help me finish a song with Tyga – just to go to the bathroom. When I came back, he had deleted all the vocals and made a complete diss song about me, calling me a bad producer, a boomer, and a terrible father. I think I laughed for a week.”

Jackass star Steve-O also expressed his solidarity with Oliver Tree and wrote on Instagram:

“I was incredibly lucky to be friends with Oliver Tree. He checked in with me regularly and showed me he cared about how I was doing. Such a great person – damn, I’m going to miss him.”
