TEHRAN (dpa-AFX) – The Iranian Supreme National Security Council says it has finalized the framework agreement with the USA under the leadership of Head of State Moschtaba Khamenei. The negotiations were concluded on Sunday evening, according to a Security Council statement published by the Iranian news agency Tasnim.

The framework agreement includes an immediate end to the war on all fronts, including Lebanon. This applies immediately and permanently. In addition, the US naval blockade will be lifted immediately and completely, it said. There was no mention of concessions from the Iranian side in the letter.

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kasem Gharibabadi said Iran’s commitments to the deal would only come into force after a signing on Friday, according to Tasnim.

Another Tasnim report, citing unnamed sources, spoke of an opening of the Strait of Hormuz after the framework agreement was signed.

The National Security Council in Iran is the highest decision-making body and is under the supervision of Supreme Leader Moschtaba Khamenei and the leadership of President Massoud Peseschkian.

Since Modschtaba Khamenei succeeded his slain father, there has been speculation about the 56-year-old’s health. Iranian state media described him in a portrait as a “war disabled person”. He has not appeared in public since his appointment./mar/DP/he
