Oscar Onley falls into a ravine during the Tour Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and sustains serious injuries. It remains to be seen whether the 23-year-old will also have to give up his Tour de France plans.
At the Tour Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, Scottish professional cyclist Oscar Onley dislocated his shoulder and sustained injuries to his leg on the sixth stage. The 23-year-old fell into a smaller ravine and was only discovered by helpers after some time – after which his team Netcompany-Ineos took him out of the race.
The fall occurred away from the TV cameras. Onley completed the stage, but on Saturday he did not take part in the penultimate stage.
The race was considered a dress rehearsal for the Tour de France. It is unclear how the fall will affect Onley’s further course of the season. At the 2025 Tour, the Scot wearing the Picnic PostNL team jersey fought a duel with Florian Lipowitz for third place and finished fourth.
