One of the most legendary Alfa Romeos took part in this edition of the 1000 Miglia: the extraordinary 8C 2900 A “Botticella” from the Metropole Museum in Druten, Holland, with the Van Haren – van Gerwen crew and driven by the collector Frans Van Haren. A car that remains in history for having conquered the first three steps of the podium at the 1936 Mille Miglia: the three official 8C 2900 A prepared by Scuderia Ferrarri started as absolute favorites and immediately monopolized the race. Antonio Brivio and Carlo Ongaro crossed the finish line in Brescia after 1597 km in 13 hours 7 minutes and 51 seconds, setting a record average speed of 121.590 km/h, followed by Nino Farina and Stefano Meazza, just 32 seconds behind, while Carlo Maria Pintacuda and Aldo Stefani took the third step of the podium.
