Love for water and people
Marjanne works one day a week as a ‘pontoon mistress’. Her love for the water once brought her to the ferry. According to her, the work is not just about sailing. The contact with passengers also makes it special. “You have different conversations every day. Sometimes it’s about the weather, sometimes about nature and sometimes even about geopolitics. It’s always fun.”
Rain or shine
Even in less favorable circumstances, Marjanne likes to remain at the helm. “I have sometimes stood here with a fur hat and thick coat until well into June. Then it is really shivering.” In fact, she sees bad weather as a challenge. “I like waves and wind. I actually enjoy mooring with wind force five or six.”
