1. FC Kaiserslautern lures a talent from Borussia Dortmund to the Betzenberg. The 18-year-old winger Thierry Tazemeta will join the second division team next season and will be the first new addition to the attack. Overall, he is the second newcomer for 2026/27.
Tazemeta moved to BVB’s youth team at the beginning of 2024, where he initially played for the U17s and later for the U19s and the second team. In total, the Austrian played 51 games in Dortmund and scored 21 goals. The right winger was not used for the Bundesliga professionals. Since his contract is expiring, he is joining the Red Devils on a free transfer and will be hunting for goals in the 2nd Bundesliga for the first time.
“With Thierry we were able to attract a top international talent. He is a technically adept player who is characterized by his physicality and his speed. He can also be used variably in the offensive with his depth. With him we are continuing on our path to strengthen our squad with young talents who we want to promote and to whom we offer the opportunity to develop further at a high level,” said FCK sports director Marcel Klos.
Tazemeta, who was recently appointed to the squad of the Austrian U21 national team for the first time, explained: “You don’t say no to a club like 1. FC Kaiserslautern, which has so much tradition. When the request came, my eyes widened and I was very happy. I had very good conversations with those in charge and immediately felt a lot of trust in myself. I can identify with the path that 1. FC Kaiserslautern would like to take in the coming years. That’s why I think “I think that this step is right for me personally and for my further sporting development. I want to be successful together with the team and I’m looking forward to seeing the fans.”
