Residents of the municipalities of Dordrecht, Zwijndrecht and Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht are advised to boil tap water for at least three minutes before use for the next 72 hours due to contamination with E.coli. That reports South Holland South Safety Region Friday evening at 8 p.m. No information has been released about the cause.
The authorities are calling on residents to also inform neighbors and fellow citizens about the bacteria. Anyone who ignores the advice runs a limited risk of developing stomach and intestinal complaints. Residents who are pregnant or have a limited immune system are more at risk of complaints, as are young children and the elderly.
The Safety Region advises people to boil water with a kettle or a pan. Kettles and coffee makers generally do not allow tap water to boil for three minutes at a time.
