Spike Lee was seen wearing a shirt provoking Trump at a basketball game.
Spike Lee is also known as a die-hard New York Knicks fan.
Film director Spike Lee was seen at the NBA team New York Knicks game on the night between Monday and Tuesday wearing an attention-grabbing shirt, says The Daily Beast.
Lee was wearing a Knicks jersey with Pope Leo’s name on the back. The shirt also had the pope’s signature.
US President Donald Trump was also seen in the audience of the match. President Trump and Pope Leo have been at odds with each other numerous times over the past year.
Lee’s choice of outfit attracted attention, as it can be seen as a nod in the direction of the President of the United States, Donald Trump. Trump’s presence was known in advance, and Lee has spoken in public about him in a very critical tone.
The name of Pope Leo was written on the back of Spike Lee’s shirt.
Over the years, he has called Trump, among other things, “Agent Orange” and compared him to Hitler.
Lee also said earlier CNN’s in the interview that he was annoyed by Trump’s presence in the match.
– I can’t speak for everyone, but I find it strange that he has to come to the scene right now. You now have to go to the match two hours earlier. He takes the focus away from the game itself, Lee said.
Trump’s presence caused a chaotic situation. Due to the security arrangements, the public had to queue for a considerable time to enter the hall.
Lee also told CNN a story related to the shirt. He had sent the Pope a jersey with his autograph. However, the Pope had surprisingly responded by sending a similar shirt with his own autograph.
Spike Lee has become known to Finns for his film BlacKkKlansmanwhich starred Jasper Pääkkönen in one of the main roles. The film won the Academy Award for Best Screenplay in 2019.
