Summit with Udinese: full speed ahead for the defender, working on the formula. The French midfielder is the alternative to Jones
It wasn’t the first time and it won’t be the last, also because the great puzzle of the summer hasn’t even begun, but this latest face-to-face meeting between Inter and Udinese gave an initial direction to the market of the two clubs: the sporting management of the Nerazzurri, in the figure of Piero Ausilio, and that of the Bianconeri, represented by Gianluca Nani, spent a few hours together and, in doing so, brought the well-known negotiation to light. Having removed the veil, Oumar Solet showed himself to the world for what he is: object of desire, longed for and now close to the Italian champions, who are determined to pound the first punch on the table in defence. Between a possible onerous loan, the sum that could be used to cover a discounted redemption but, above all, the overall evaluation of the 26-year-old Frenchman, there is no shortage of topics to discuss. After all, Nani and Ausilio have known each other for thirty years by their own admission and yesterday they came very close to defining the agreement: some additional work is missing just to give the right value to the merchandise, but the bulk has been done. If that wasn’t enough, something else was added, an unexpected player only in appearance, at least according to the tastes of Cristian Chivu and the managers who deal with the transfer market in Viale della Liberazione, from president Marotta to Ausilio himself, up to deputy Dario Baccin: at Inter there has always been a very high general regard for Arthur Atta. Solet’s 23-year-old compatriot is considered an innovative midfielder, equipped with a series of alternative characteristics compared to those of the Nerazzurri midfielder: for this reason he would be a possible valuable addition in a changing department. Even in this case, the Friulians are convinced that they have a little treasure at home: they know how much that mixture of muscles, dribbling and quick thinking makes the tidbit attractive to many big names, including Inter. For their part, the Nerazzurri simply limited themselves to asking for information on Friuli’s second goal, knowing full well that in the coming weeks this interest could strengthen or fade away: everything will depend on what remains hanging in the nets already thrown into the sea.

Solet, now in an advanced stage, was joined by Atta, an idea in draft form. Precisely on the first front, above all, the day was the bearer of news because, after a total agreement had already been reached with the player’s staff (we are thinking of a four-year contract worth 2.5 per year), yesterday the first approach that Udinese wanted arrived: the club that holds the contract is determined to value the defense centurion at no less than 25 million. Inter, however, is really close to the figure, just three million away, but is in dialogue with the Pozzo club in an attempt to find the appropriate and definitive formula: they are still trying to avoid the immediate purchase, perhaps thinking of an expensive loan with purchase, but details are still missing on this area. Nothing, however, to worry about, given the Nerazzurri’s desire to add a player of these characteristics as soon as possible: in defence, in fact, Chivu has said goodbye to old soldiers who have reached age and contract limits, such as Matteo Darmian and Francesco Acerbi, but at the same time he is well aware that Yann Bisseck’s position at Appiano is no longer solid.

Solet represents the highest form of caution because, perhaps even more than the German, he combines all the necessary characteristics: net of some marking blunders, the defender that Inter have been chasing for almost 4 years has an unbalancing physical strength for the Italian championship, but also uncommon technical skills. In short, he will not only have to keep the trench in front of Martinez, the season’s bet between the posts, but ferry the ball in front and make the game flow from his side. Less urgency, however, on compatriot Atta, born in 2003 who arrived from Metz almost without making any noise and capable of building space for himself, thanks to evident growth also on a physical level: thus the valuation reached well over 20 million. In the Nerazzurri’s plans he would be an alternative to the Englishman Curtis Jones, the company’s favorite without any ifs or buts: Curtis is a Reds heart which, however, the beloved Liverpool has rejected and is now just waiting to clarify his position with the new Basque coach Iraola. The difference of around ten million between supply and demand, still to be eroded, requires us to find alternatives, as long as the new midfielder knows how to change pace and skip the man: this is what Chivu wants, there between Calhanoglu, Barella, Zielinski, Sucic and Mkhitaryan.
