The t-online form table for the World Cup delivers a few surprises – because it emphasizes the current strength much more than the sedate world rankings. Germany does significantly better than in the official Fifa ranking – while Morocco and Japan make it clear why they are no longer insider tips.

France in front of Spain, behind Germany: At first glance, the top of the World Cup form table still looks familiar. But the DFB team’s third place is already an exclamation mark. In the FIFA world rankings, Germany is only in tenth place – but in terms of form, the team leaves several big names behind.

The table is based on a calculation using three factors: the last ten international matches (60 percent), the results of the World Cup qualification (30 percent) and, for a current market assessment, the betting odds (10 percent). The formula also takes into account the strength of the opponents and the level of results – the longer a game was played, the lower it is weighted. Competitive games are also worth more than friendly games.

Germany moves up seven places

In the FIFA world rankings, Germany is currently only number ten among the 48 World Cup participants. But in the form table it is enough for third place. Only France and Spain are ahead.

The reason: The DFB team has the best value of all teams in the last ten games. With a Last10 index of 86.8, Germany is even ahead of France, Spain, England and Argentina. There is also a strong qualification index of 79.0. The weaker betting odds index prevents the jump to the top – but overall the value is remarkably stable at 79.6.

This is particularly explosive because Germany failed early in the last World Cup tournaments. In this calculation the picture looks different: Germany is not a shaky candidate, but a serious contender for the title.

Morocco is no longer an outsider

Morocco is particularly striking. The team comes in fifth place – ahead of Argentina, Japan, Belgium, the Netherlands, Portugal and Brazil.

The Moroccan betting odds index is weak. The market therefore has less confidence in them than the classic heavyweights. The sporting evaluation looks different: Morocco has a Last10 value of 75.2 and an outstanding qualification index of 90.1. This means: The latest results are correct, the qualification was strong – the semi-finalists from 2022 could go even further this time.
