France gained confidence in the last match before the World Cup on Monday evening. Thanks to a hat trick from Michael Olise Les Bleus defeated Northern Ireland: 3-1.

Olise is in good shape, just before the World Cup. The Bayern Munich winger showed this especially with his third goal.

He dribbled in and curled the ball beautifully into the right corner. It was reminiscent of the goals that his predecessor Arjen Robben scored so often.

France got off to a strong start, but failed to capitalize on many opportunities. Kylian Mbappé was much sought after. The Real Madrid striker saw his goal disallowed for offside in the 21st minute.

Olise scored a goal just before half time that was valid: 1-0. Immediately after the break he added another goal. Northern Ireland returned the favor in the 64th minute through Patrick Kelly, but it turned out not to be a prelude to a stunt. Olise decided the match in the 74th minute: 3-1.

France starts the World Cup against Senegal on June 16. Didier Deschamps’ team is also in the group with Iraq and Norway.

Northern Ireland has not qualified for the World Cup.

Mbappé shoots over

Mbappé is frequently wanted, but the striker has not yet managed to convert that into a goal. This time too he is sloppy in his finishing. Up close works Mbappé passes the ball high.

2-1 GOAL by Patrick Kelly!

Cherki, who has only been on the field for two minutes, loses the ball in midfield. Upamecano makes another tackle, but can no longer prevent the cross from which Kelly scores. Just like against Ivory Coast, which even scored twice, France conceded a goal.

2-0 GOAL by Michael Olise!

And immediately after the break, France strikes again! Olise slams the ball hard against the ropes. It’s his second of the evening.

Northern Ireland goal cancelled

McConville heads in, but pushes his opponent over just before.

1-0 GOAL by Michael Olise!

There is the goal! By some stroke of luck the ball ends up at the feet of Olise, who gets an opportunity that cannot be missed. That the Bayern Munich attacker remains cool and opens the score in Lille.

Northern Ireland is holding out for now

The rain of opportunities has diminished in France in the past fifteen minutes. No, it is not yet the goodbye match that national coach Didier Deschamps’ team hoped for.

Strike through Mbappé’s goal

No, not yet goal number 57 for Mbappe for France. This would make him joint top scorer of all time in France. That honor now belongs to Giroud.

Mbappé was offside after a shot went back into the field via the post.

Mbappé fails to open the score

Comes through a splitting through ball Mbappé suddenly comes face to face with goalkeeper Charles. The French top scorer sees his weak effort easily reversed. There had Mbappé should put his country ahead.

Great opportunity France!

After a careful attack, the ball lands at the feet of Mbappe. The Real Madrid striker wants to curl the ball in, but just cannot give enough effect.
