First female mayor in Japan on maternity leave, but not everyone responds positively: “Irresponsible”

Shoko Kawata (35), mayor of Yawata, Japan, will give birth to her first child in September. Kawata announced that she will take 16 weeks of maternity leave for this. A first for the country. It has never happened before that a female mayor went on maternity leave in Japan.
