The torn muscle bundle that cost high-flyer Lennart Karl his participation in the World Cup is apparently causing alarm at FC Bayern. Consequences are planned.

As the “kicker” reports, the German record champions no longer believe in coincidences given the large number of muscle injuries among young talents. Instead, an “obvious problem” was identified, which is now being dealt with internally. Karl’s injury only made the issue “even more explosive,” it goes on to say.

For the 18-year-old, who was already out in April and May, this is the second injury of this kind in a short period of time. But young players such as David Santos, Maycon Cardozo, Guido Della Rovere and Vincent Manuba also recently suffered similar injuries.

Karl was injured in the final training for the national team’s final World Cup friendly against the USA on Saturday (2-1).

“Missing a World Cup at short notice is of course extremely painful, and the news was a shock for the whole of FC Bayern,” said sports director Max Eberl. “But it doesn’t change how much talent, passion and future there is in Lenny. He more than deserved this World Cup with his outstanding first professional season.”

“Lenny will get all the support at FC Bayern”

Eberl emphasized: “Lenny will receive all the support at FC Bayern so that he can be back on the pitch soon – and we all know that he still has many big tournaments ahead of him. He himself is already looking to the future and says he will come back stronger. I like that about him and that is the spirit that is needed in such moments.”

Karl, who is now back in Munich and working on his rehabilitation plan with FC Bayern, spoke up on Instagram shortly before his departure from the DFB quarters.

“I don’t even know where to start, but it hurts indescribably to have to miss the biggest tournament,” complained the offensive player. “Unfortunately, injuries often come at the most unfortunate time.”
