Traditional club celebrates Bayern – derby hit guaranteed

While the German national team is still preparing for the World Cup, the focus in Germany is once again on the DFB Cup.
VfL Osnabrück has hit the jackpot: The second division promoted team will face defending champions Bayern Munich in the first round of the DFB Cup. That was the result of the draw on Saturday evening. Runner-up Borussia Dortmund has to go to the upper division club Hamburg Eimsbütteler Ballspiel Club, cup finalist VfB Stuttgart has to deal with Hansa Rostock at the start of the new season.
Referee Deniz Aytekin, who ended his career after the past season, drew the lottery tickets in the German Football Museum in Dortmund. Including the traditional duel and derby clash between Waldhof Mannheim and 1. FC Kaiserslautern.

Bundesliga promoted Schalke 04 travels to Halleschen FC in the first round, Bayer Leverkusen meets SV Wehen Wiesbaden away. RB Leipzig, the fourth German Champions League participant alongside Bayern, Dortmund and Stuttgart, was drawn against Eintracht Trier.
The first round will mainly be played from August 21st to 24th. However, the first round games for Bayern and BVB will take place on September 1st and 2nd, as the two teams will play the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup in Dortmund on August 22nd. The next cup winner will be crowned in the final on May 29, 2027 in the Berlin Olympic Stadium.
