There is still no trace of the fugitive criminal Alaouidi Djabrailov (31). The public prosecutor’s office confirms this. The Russian escaped from the AZ Sint-Jan in Bruges on Friday morning after threatening his guards with a sharp object.

Regional journalist at HLN

Djabrailov had been in prison in Bruges for some time, serving a 40-month prison sentence for violent theft. At the end of 2024, he dragged a 79-year-old woman from her car at the Citadel Park in Ghent. The elderly woman was parked when the 29-year-old perpetrator suddenly opened the door of her car, “Dégage!” (get out, ed.) shouted and abruptly pushed her outside. She hit her head on the ground, but her seat belt was still fastened, causing her to be dragged along as the perpetrator fled. A mad dash ensued, after which Djabrailov abandoned the stolen car, entered a home and demanded the keys to a van, before crashing the vehicle.

Prisoners threatened

A few years earlier, he was sentenced to 13 months in prison in our country after he barricaded himself in a greenhouse in Kortrijk in September 2022 after trying to steal cars in an adjacent garage.

On Friday morning he threatened two guards in the hospital with a sharp object. This happened during the change of clothes, during which he was allowed to loosen his handcuffs for a moment. Djabrailov grabbed the object, threatened his guards and fled from the tenth floor of the hospital through the stairwell. Despite a massive manhunt, there is currently no trace of him. The public prosecutor’s office confirms this.
