While the number of motorcycle casualties fell by more than 40 percent in ten years and mopeds also recorded a decline of about a third, the trend for electric vehicles is clearly going in the other direction.
For example, the number of victims with an electric bicycle is more than four times higher today than ten years ago. This increase is even more striking for speed pedelecs, where 23 times more victims were registered. The number of accidents involving electric scooters is also increasing sharply. In five years the number of victims increased fivefold.
Regular cyclists were slightly less likely to be involved in a traffic accident over the past ten years.
