And once again the series is perfect. With a 3-0 sweep, FC Bayern Munich’s basketball players moved into the final of the BBL play-offs. An easy 77:57 victory (17:19, 8:18, 21:24, 11:16) over Bonn in game three brought the Munich team the decision.
It is the 13th success in a row in the Bundesliga. The basketball players of FC Bayern Munich are heading for the championship in the Bundesliga. Coach Svetislav Pesic’s team easily won the third semi-final against Telekom Baskets Bonn in the evening with 77:57 (17:19, 8:18, 21:24, 11:16) and moved into the final series for the third time in a row with a 3-0 win. The Munich team won the championship title in 2024 and 2025.
For Pesic and his team around world champion Andreas Obst, who is missing again because of his injuries, it is about ending the complicated year with an early exit from Europe and missed cup victory with a national triumph.
Xavier Rathan-Mayes excels for FC Bayern
The outstanding player for Munich was Xavier Rathan-Mayes. The winger scored 27 points and converted six of his nine three-point attempts. The game was almost decided at half-time. Munich’s final opponent will be either Alba Berlin or Bamberg Baskets. Alba leads 2-0 after two clear home wins.
Munich are also clear favorites in the final. The Pesic team is still undefeated in the playoffs so far and has won five of its six games by at least 20 points.
The first three finals are scheduled for June 12th, 14th and 17th. A possible fourth and fifth final would take place on June 19th and 21st. After first place in the main round, Bayern also enjoys home advantage in the final for the first two games and in the potentially decisive fifth game.
