Guido Weijers is switching from RTL 4 to SBS 6, which will broadcast his New Year’s Eve conference this year. “Now we are giving a nice follow-up to what we started then,” says the comedian.
SBS 6 will end the year with Guido Weijers, returning to the place where his New Year’s Eve tradition began exactly twenty years ago. His conference then moved to RTL 4, but apparently they are no longer interested in the comedian. And that is why he returns to the old base for his twelfth New Year’s Eve conference.
Bull’s-eye
Guido has a good feeling about it. “Twenty years ago, SBS 6 was the first commercial channel that dared to broadcast the New Year’s Eve conference. That turned out to be a bull’s eye. Now we are giving a nice follow-up to what we started then. In the coming months I will enjoy collecting, polishing and sharpening texts.”
“We’re only half way through, but the year has already produced enough bizarre, beautiful and hilarious moments to make you laugh out loud on New Year’s Eve. And to immediately answer the most frequently asked questions: No, I still don’t mince my words and ‘yes’ you can still make jokes about everything during this time.”
‘It’s fantastic!’
Tom Roedolf, channel manager of SBS 6, thinks it’s great. “We think it’s fantastic that Guido Weijers is back on SBS6. Guido is one of the most beloved and successful comedians in the Netherlands and we are convinced that he will treat our viewers to a great New Year’s Eve conference and an unforgettable end to the year.”
He continues: “With his unique talent to make us laugh at everything that concerns us every day, Guido knows better than anyone else how to bring together all the events of the past year in a sharp, recognizable and hilarious way.”
Momentum
From September, Guido will tour theaters throughout the country with a preview of the New Year’s Eve performance and will perform in the extra-large locations Brabanthallen Den Bosch (November 14) and AFAS Live Amsterdam (December 23). The conference will be broadcast in prime time on SBS 6 on December 31.
But that’s not all, because SBS 6 will also broadcast his new show Momentum next year. “That is ultimately the reason for the switch, that the performance is also broadcast here,” says the comedian Show news.
Own show
Guido also hints at his own show on SBS 6. “There are also some other things in the pipeline, but I can’t say anything about them yet.”
He concludes mysteriously: “I think the story will continue.”
