National soccer player Laura Freigang is facing a long ban for missing three doping tests. As the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) announced, the 44-time international player had violated the residency requirements of the Anti-Doping Act. Within twelve months, the 28-year-old striker from Eintracht Frankfurt is said to have not been at the location she specified three times for a check.

These so-called strikes are a violation of the reporting requirement, which, according to Nada, usually leads to a ban of two years. Freigang is not suspected of doping. According to the media, all samples taken so far have been negative.

NADA forwarded the case to the German Football Association. If the DFB also determines a violation of the anti-doping regulations, the case will end up before the control committee and sports court. There, Freigang can explain the circumstances and have the violations checked. A strike can also be canceled again. In the worst case scenario, she could face severe punishment for her negligence.
For the two World Cup qualifying games against Norway on Friday evening in Cologne (2-0) and the following Tuesday in Slovenia, national coach Christian Wück surprisingly decided not to nominate Freigang.
