For the first time in four years, the number of dollar millionaires in Belgium has increased. They numbered 146,400 last year, an increase of 8.8 percent compared to 2024. Together they own 333 billion euros. This is evident from Capgemini’s annual global wealth report.

The consultancy company looks at investable assets in dollars and takes into account, among other things, shares and other securities, investments, cash and real estate. The family home is not included. Art collections, cars and jewelry are also not included.

618 ultra-rich

According to this calculation method, 146,400 people in Belgium have a capital of at least 1 million dollars, says Capgemini. At the current exchange rate that is 860,000 euros. Within that group there are 618 ultra-rich whose assets exceed 30 million dollars (25.8 million euros). There are 25.3 million dollar millionaires worldwide.

Belgian millionaires together own assets of 333 billion euros, an increase of 10.2 percent. Both the number of millionaires and their total wealth grew faster in Belgium than the European average. According to Capgemini, this has to do with differences in stock market performance.

More evenly distributed

The wealth among millionaires in Belgium is distributed more evenly than at world level. The ultra-rich club accounts for 34.8 percent of the total wealth of millionaires. In Belgium that is 12.7 percent.

“The pyramid does become heavier at the top,” Iben Lambrechts of Capgemini described it during a press conference. The ultra-rich in Belgium saw their total assets increase by 15 percent last year. The group of ‘millionaires next door’ experienced a capital growth of 8.9 percent.
