On Friday, May 29, around 11:50 p.m., a 35-year-old man was attacked and threatened with a knife near the tram stop at Marie-Joséplein in Ostend. The victim had intervened in a discussion between the suspect and an unknown man, during which the suspect then turned against him.

Important witnesses

The suspect has been arrested, but the police are looking for several important witnesses to establish the correct circumstances of the facts.

The unknown man who sat on the right in the tram booth and with whom the suspect started a discussion. The man had a shopping trolley with him.

The two older ladies who sat on the bench in the tram booth and saw everything happen.

A group of young people and two young men were also present at Marie-Joséplein at the time of the incident. They may have additional information.

The researchers also call on all persons who were present at the scene of the incident during the discussion, scuffle and/or stabbing to report to the police.
