Audi presented in Red Bull Verstappen design

Team Car Collection Motorsport has presented its driver line-up for the 2022 ADAC GT Masters. In addition to the already announced pairing of Thierry Vermeulen and Mattia Drudi, the team around team boss Peter Schmidt relies on a proven duo.

As in the previous season, the two Swabians Markus Winkelhock and Florian Spengler will take turns at the wheel of an Audi R8 LMS GT3 evo II in the races of the German GT Championship.

Car Collection also presented the designs of the two Audis. The vehicle owned by Vermeulen and Drudi is particularly eye-catching. It not only carries the starting number 33 – Max Verstappen’s personal starting number in Formula 1 – but also the sponsors Red Bull and Verstappen.com.

This is no coincidence. Thierry Vermeulen is the son of Max Verstappen’s manager Raymond Vermeulen and grew up alongside the reigning Formula 1 champion. “I’m really looking forward to driving with Car Collection in the ADAC GT Masters in 2022,” says the 19-year-old Dutchman. “The change from the Porsche Carrera Cup is a big challenge and an opportunity to race with the new Audi R8 LMS GT3 evo II,” says the youngster happily.

“Working with Mattia Drudi has proved great in pre-season testing and I can’t wait to start the season and see what we can achieve as a team,” continued Vermeulen.

Two old acquaintances meet up in the car with starting number 69. Like last season, Spengler and Audi Sport driver Winkelhock are behind the wheel. Both are among the most experienced drivers in the German GT Championship.

Spengler has been there since 2011 and was able to win the hard-fought Trophy ranking last year. The ex-Formula 1 and DTM driver and Markus Winkelhock is entering his 10th season in the ADAC GT Masters and has been an integral part of the Car Collection team for many years.
